Black Christmas*

Come on not everyone can like the same things. Currently (and for the past 2 months in the UK apparently) the spirit is one: Christmas. The period when children are happy getting gifts, eating sweets, taking photos with a wanna-be Santa Claus wearing a white fake beard and kitschy, cheap red costume. The snow of course is the one thing I like, but it is not so typical in December (well it is this year) and it just makes the whole spirit more "happy", fake-happy in my opinion.
Anyway, the thing is that Christmas can be a wonderful happy holiday, people spending time with their families and beloved ones, but doesn't this whole spirit leave a bitter taste? You know the feeling of wanting more but at the same time regretting the whole process in the first place -the eating, drinking, partying, gathering- as you then miss it even more than when you didn't have it at all.
On the other hand, I will probably appreciate the holidays much more now that I'm away from home and this is my one chance to go back and actually get-together.
But Christmas, just like Easter-Valentines Day etc, promote consumerism more than they should. They distort the jolliness these periods should have, as constantly buying doesn't necessarily connect the family. Although I must admit it is quite nice to have gifts under the tree /but that's just my capitalist side talking.
Well this inner discussion didn't get me anywhere.. But I still think Christmas is presented much more happily than it should as you are much less happy when it ends. But I'm more the "live the moment" type so probably this Christmas theory isn't quite true, but the "fakeness" is. Just because its Christmas everyone has to be happy? NO-just like any other day.
I'll might have to reconsider some of my "christmas theories" though..
Oh here's a song I really like (yes I know, it is a Christmas song)

Karma is a b*tch.

We all know how the saying goes, what goes around comes around. So be careful of what you do as it will come back to you.
I don't  want to be mean, just plain realistic-but I really like when I prove to be right, even after a long time.
An with your case darling-I was right all along. You manipulative, lying, "sweet little creature" (as you always say), as you can easily convince everyone that you are cute and innocent. Making yourself look innocent, saying things like "i never forgot you nonetheless" when you were the one saying and doing all the stupid things. But when I've seen you lying on the phone, saw it came so natural to you, well you must have lied to me to (i guess more than once.)
But baby your "friends" now know how capable you are of destroying everything, even when you dont mean to.
"Revenge" is better served cold and I hope you're enjoying it-everyone's taking a taste of your friendship and then leaves. So, bye from me too.

Although I still love you in some way

a different side of Biology.

Biology really got me thinking. Well maybe not Biology itself. Okay I mean it's really interesting to get to know what alcohol does to the brain or how the addictions work.. Did you know that video games after a while really are addictive the same way as drugs? I thought it was only a "myth".
Anyway, so apart from all these interesting things I learned this past week of studying for my test (which was today), and after missing it because my alarm didn't ring, I understood something else.
First of all technology can be really helpful but not always. Also, this is University--there are no second chances. It sounds pessimistic I know, but it is true unfortunately. University is not like High School. Teachers won't be sympathetic because you missed a deadline and will definitely not tolerate the fact that your "dog ate your homework" (actually I am impressed that this ever worked). No one will do you a favour just because you are cute or smart. This is an environment that prepares you for the job you will get later on, no one will give you the job if you miss the interview. Does it sound logical now? It does to me.
This is why missing a test is important, you are not going to write it again. So you rather not study and sit the test anyway (which I wouldn't recommend) than study and miss it. Or staying up late at night and not being able to get up on time to sit the test... Maybe it's fate, Biology and me never got along well! So whether I am able to sit the test again (here is my second chance), or not, this whole situation got me thinking that this is real life and I have to get used to it soon! Plus there is another test coming on in December, I'll set 3 different alarms then for sure! The good thing is that for once I can blame myself without being unfair.
